And1, which was founded in 1993 by three students in Pennsylvania, first caught attention with trash talk slogans on t-shirts and with the faceless „Player“ logo. Only three years after launching the company And1 became the official outfitter of Stephon Marbury, their first NBA player. The ultimate breakthrough came in 1999 with the release of the first And1 mixtape, which showed streetball legend Rafer „Skip to my Lou“ Alston doing unprecedented, spectacular streetball moves. After the unbelievable hype and success of that tape, And1 started producing more tapes and in the process became an integral part of Streetball Culture.
