In 1924 the two brothers Adi and Rudolf Dassler started manufacturing sportshoes. With a lot of effort they developed sneaker, which were exactly tailored for the needs of their athletes. Jesse Owens won four gold medals at the Olympic Games of 1936 wearing a pair of those Dassler shoes. But a few years later the two brothers went separate ways. In 1948 Rudolf Dassler founded Puma, which in later years would be primarily successful with football shoes. At the end of the 90s however Puma set the course for the new millennium. As the first sport equipment producer Puma worked together with a fashion designer – which turned out to be no one less than Jil Sander. Today the brand stands not only for high quality sport shoes, but also for extravagant lifestyle and ultramodern sneakers.
