’47 Global Artist Project

’47 is world-famous for combining authenticity with fresh designs in their licensed sportswear. Their latest capsule collection is titled Global Artist Project and features unique interpretations of some of baseball’s greatest franchises. Major League Baseball is growing more and more popular around the world and in response to this ’47 collaborated with the international artist collective Monorex. Their creative talent brings fresh, authentic and original designs to the global sports lifestyle community. One artist (group) from 6 different European countries took on the challenge to design headwear, apparel and pennants of one MLB team each to create one of the most unique collections to date.

This approach is not entirely new though. For the Black Fives collection ’47 had also enlisted some of the hottest urban fashion boutiques across the United States to design apparel for a Black Fives era team from their respective hometown. It worked great that time and it’s the winning formula for this collection as well. ’47’s experience and heritage ensure highest quality and the fresh designs by prolific artists make the Global Artist Project so special.

The Low Bros is an artist duo: brothers Christoph and Florin Schmidt – formerly active as graffiti writers Qbrk and Nerd. Their work most often centers around stylized animal characters with human features and addresses graffiti, hip hop, skateboarding and other elements that influenced and shaped the artists’ youth in the 1980s and 1990s. The Low Bros are represented by BC Gallery (Berlin) and Thinkspace Gallery (Los Angeles).

New York Yankees – MCBESS (France)

French artist McBess (Matthieu Bessudo) takes a wildly unapologetic approach to his work, often inspired by old cartoons, visualized with surrealism and materialized by elaborately fun illustrations and animations. McBess’ talent doesn’t end at the drawing board — he also plays guitar in his band, “The Dead Presidents” and collaborates on a famed German lifestyle brand, “The Dudes.”

About the author

Martin joined KICKZ in 2013, the year of its 20th anniversary. Starting out on a small side job he’s been sucked deeper and deeper into the Kickz.com universe ever since. Also known as “Doc Martin” or “The Professor”, he’s a real smartass who drives his colleagues nuts on a regular basis. His wisdom is as magnificent as his beard, which makes James Harden look like an infant. And he’s also very humble.
Surprisingly, his favorite basketball player is not Dr. J but Penny Hardaway. Likewise, his favorite team of all time is the 1994-95 Orlando Magic squad who beat the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. When it comes to sneakers, it’s retro runners all the way. New Balance, Adidas, Puma, Asics … you name it. It’s safe to assume that there’s a connection between his love for 90s shoes and 90s basketball.
