superga – colorful shoes made of cloth from italy. it was in 1911 when the brand was founded in turino by walter martiny. he was one one of the first people to make shoes with a vulcanized outsole. these shoes made mostly out of canvas became a surefire hit in the hot summers of italy and were popular on beach promenades as early as the 1920s. the successful design has not been changed until today: simple, yet stylish and colorful. that’s how today’s collections of superga remain. well, maybe there are a few more colors today than back then. 2011 superga will celebrate its 100th anniversary. but it never gets old.
