Riding the recent wave of 90s revival products the Puma Cell Venom is set to make a splash … again. Originally released in 1998 this running shoe is celebrating its 20-year anniversary with a comeback that sneakerheads and runners will be very happy about.
In many ways the Cell Venom is the daddy of many contemporary sneakers today which bet on maximalist design and aggressive lines like most of the models of the recent chunky sneaker trend.
The Cell Venom famously boasted the revolutionary Puma Cell technology which provided maximum heel cushioning for runners by utilizing small honeycomb-shaped Polyurethane cells in the midsole instead of using industry standard foam.
This change improved cushioning, stability and durability for more than twice the distance provided by foam-based shoes.
The “Surf the Web” color scheme of white and blue coming out on December 6th features a mesh toebox, suede and leather overlays, a textured mudguard and multiple Puma brandings.
The Cell Venom embodies a piece of running shoe history which is still as relevant today as it was back then.
