NBA Games held on Christmas Day, December 25th, have been an annual tradition since 1947 and feature some of the best teams and players. Often times the NBA will have teams that have had a long standing rivalry play against each other on this day (Lakers vs Celtics, Bulls vs Knicks). Sometimes it’s a rematch of the previous season’s NBA Finals. In other cases players are pitted against ex-teammates (Kobe vs Shaq).
For a while now teams and players have been wearing special Christmas Day jerseys and special versions of their sneakers. This year Nike gave a twist to the Christmas Day Jerseys and made special uniforms only for the teams that have reached last season’s playoffs, making it clear that teams have to earn special Christmas Day jerseys from now on.
Fittingly the jerseys are now called “Earned City Edition”.
