The first ever basketball shoe in history, known by the name of Chuck Taylor All Star. First produced in 1917, Converse probably didn't realize they revolutionized the sneaker game forever. Nowadays you can't tell pop cultures apart just by looking at their footwear. Goths, rappers, skaters or just average dudes – it doesn't matter. They've all worn it. It all started in the 60s with every NBA player wearing the so called „Chucks“, from sharp shooting Pete Maravich to the one and only Wilt Chamberlain. Despite numerous modifications in the last decade, Converse didn't forget where they came from.

Almost 100 years have passed and the Converse family still hasn't had enough! Their priority always has been developement, while still retaining the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette you know and love. That's what the CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR II is all about. What sets the newcomer apart from its predecessor? The fresh addition is a better fit for your „on the road“ lifestyle due to latest technologies and improved comfort. Also, its look has had a slight make-over. In a nutshell, a lot has changed. Actually, has it really?

First, let's talk about comfort. To be honest, Chucks aren't known for being a relief on feet. But thanks to Nike's input, the Lunarlon sockliner - which is 30 percent lighter than traditional Phylon – these times are over. The soft foam core provides for lightweight, ultra-plush cushioning. This helps reducing painful pressure points on feet and gets you through the most difficult days. Adding to that, the tongue receives an additional, padded, non-slip foam lining which comforts the ankle and instep area. This also prevents ankle sprains and other common injuries.

On the outside the sneaker also went through changes. The new high quality upper takes the classic to another level: Starting from Canvas, transitioning to the Premium version and ending up with KNIT. Not only providing a touch second to none, the KNIT-technology enables a multicolored upper design. Laces and eyelets match the general colorway and the characteristic central strip pales to minimizes the danger of confusion. Converse's goal - to create a new, astonishing version of the sneaker veteran without losing track of their own ideals – has been successfully accomplished.

It was in 1908, when Marquise Mills Converse founded a little shoe factory named Converse. He loved basketball and wanted to produce special shoes for this very young sport. Ten years later he hired designer Chuck Taylor, who created the Chuck Taylor All Stars in 1917. Because of its high cut they were just worn on the basketball court at first. But over time that changed dramatically. Mills Converse and Taylor probably never expected this sneaker to become the most successful shoe model of all time. From 1917 until today Converse sold over over 600 million pairs worldwide. Up until 1966 Chucks were only made in either black or white. Only after that did they add seven new colours. In 2003 Converse became a part of Nike, Inc.
