Michael Jordan and the New York Knicks. Unforgetable and hard-fought battles on-court as well as off-court. Let's say it like this: They didn't like each other. At all. But who could blame the Knickerbockers in doing so? He was the reason the staff, players and fans were caught in broken dreams over and over again. Nevertheless everyone knew how good Michael was – there was no denying that. In the moment that was realized, respect was born – and there is no denying that aswell. Mutual respect in fact. It's not like the majority of victories were just handed to the Bulls, they had to earn them. That said, MJ is paying homage to the Knicks in the form of the AIR JORDAN RETRO LOW „KNICKS“. A Jordan in Knicks colors? The same Knicks around seemingly always beserking superstar Patrick Ewing? Exactly. Apart from its name a brash Knickerbocker blue can't be mistaken. Furthermore the inner lining, a part of the outsole as well as the Jumpman on tongue and heel area are obviously held in orange. Sometimes life turns out in the most unexpected ways. If you were to jump into a time machine and tell somebody about this in the 90s...well, you get it.

When the AIR JORDAN 5 – Jordan's fifth signature shoe – released in 1990, a young Mike himself had to acknowledge defeat for the third time already. Not even 47 points in the Eastern Conference Finals' third game were enough to surpass the „Bad Boys“ from Detroit. Back then the blame couldn't be put on the shoes. Something Mars Blackmon probably would have done. Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman and company were just too much to handle.

Inspired by the „Mustang“ combat aircraft, innovative stylish features teamed up with performance ability. Designed by legendary Nike-designer Tinker Hatfield, a lot of hints deliberately featured, especially on the midsole's „teeth“. Mesh windows on the shoe's side provide for an amazing breathability while the AJ V's tongue is reflective. Furthermore the lucent rubber outsole had its first appearance on a Jordan shoe. Also debuting, the lace lock-system awarded the Jordan signature its unique and recognizable look. Apart from the outward appearance, the lock-system also fulfilled functional purposes. Through lace fixation a stable footing is ensured.
