HUF founder Keith Hufnagel grew up as a skateboarder in the 1980s, when the sport had not been long established and in an age where Huf clothing and the other brands of today did not yet exist. Hufnagel moved to San Francisco in 1992 and got the opportunity to become a professional skater. He took advantage of this privilege to give something back to the community, by opening a small boutique in which only the best brands were offered. The store quickly became the hottest skate shop in the Bay Area and was known for carrying products which were otherwise difficult to come across. Encouraged by the great success, Hufnagel created his own label HUF, which today boasts great success in particular with Huf clothing.
Top quality from HUF clothing
Despite the great success of HUF, Hufnagel has remained true to his roots. For him skateboarding always was and will be more than just a hobby. For him skateboarding represents a counterculture which can bring together photographers, musicians, artists and other creatives, overcome racial differences and break down social structures. It offers a world free from constraints and prejudices. He also seeks to express this freedom in his collection, whether it be with Huf clothing or anything else. The HUF designs are inspired by timeless vintage looks paired with classic American craftsmanship. To achieve this high-quality materials are used which can withstand the heavy load of skating. Hufnagel is still heavily involved in the manufacturing process and travels with his skateboard and his friends all over the world, looking for new inspirations for Huf clothing.
