K-Swiss was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1966 by two Swiss brothers Art Brunner and Ernie Brunner. The brothers were able to combine their long-standing passion for skiing with their new found sport tennis to create K Swiss trainers. The brand’s logo of 5 stripes is immediately recognizable on K Swiss trainers. Low top white sneakers are probably the most well-known K Swiss trainer but it is no longer best known for on the tennis court and has today become one of the classic lifestyle brands. Now based in Westlake Village just outside of Los Angeles, it has stayed true to its origins.
Sport shoes to lifestyle
The real strength of K Swiss trainers is their versatility. On the one hand the most successful tennis duo of all time, the Bryan brothers, casually sport the trainers on the court and look at home in them. Equally the renowed producer and DJ Diplo can also pull off wearing these on the street. Really they can be worn anytime and anyplace – the comfort of K Swiss trainers should not be underestimated. Perhaps K Swiss summed it up best itself with the naming of its best-selling shoe, it is called the ‘Classic’.
