On May 20, 1879 the tailor Jacob Davis and the wholesaler Levi Strauss received a patent from the U.S. patent authority – and Levi’s jeans were born. What began in a small shop in San Francisco changed the street style and fashion world forever. The first jeans were introduced to the workers of the American West. Blue pants made of denim material quickly sold out, and the company Levi Strauss & Co. started to develop and expand its business.
Levi´s – the original
In 1886 the famous Levi’s logo was designed, depicting two horses pulling a pair of jeans in opposite directions. According to the legend, this logo appeared after the sensational story about a train driver who tied two carriages together with his jeans and successfully drove the train to the destination. The logo has become the symbol of the superior durability of Levi’s jeans and lead to Levi’s jeans completely conquering the market. Nowadays Levi Strauss & Co. produces not only the world´s best jeans but also high-quality shirts, jackets, shorts and hoodies. The design of the Levi’s products remains classic yet modern – continuing the love affair that so many people around the world have with this brand.
