The Nike Air Max 90 started its life as the Air Max III but was renamed after its birthday following the relaunch in 2000. The Air Max 90 was Tinker Hatfield’s 3rd instalment to the ‘Max’ line and had a higher cut than the original Air Max which gave it more support. The Nike Air Max 90 was a forerunner in terms of innovation and was one of the first of its kind of use dura-mesh, synthetic suede and synthetic leathers which not only benefitted the build of the shoe, but also the range of available colourways.
The shoe itself was created as lightweight and breathable as possible to enhance its effectiveness as a running shoe. A large air unit in its heel helps for shock absorption (the classic trademark of the Nike Air range) and the upper is made out of Duromesh with a mix of synthetics.
Everything about the Nike Air Max 90 says comfort and performance, but it is perhaps the range of colourways that made the shoe so famous. From white on white to florescent, there is a Nike Air Max 90 to suit any taste or style.
