The models in the Nike Uptempo line are part of a whole series of innovative basketball trainers that Nike launched in the 1990s. They conquered the basketball court hands down and made ballers’ hearts skip a beat. After the very first Uptempo proved to be so popular with its continuous Air element, Nike brought out new models around once a year. Here they are at a glance:
1995: Nike Air Uptempo
The first model in the product line. Now also known as the Air Max Uptempo 94.
1995: Nike Air Max2 Uptempo
The first shoe with Air Max2 technology: the two-compartment system allowed for varying levels of air pressure.
1996: Nike Air More Uptempo
Known for its ‘in-your-face’ AIR logo and as the favourite shoe of Scottie Pippen.
1997: Nike Air Max Uptempo 3
With a redesigned Air element, the Nike Air Max Uptempo 3 had the best shock absorption in a Nike basketball shoe up until that point. Today it is known as the Uptempo 97.
