Superga was founded in 1911 by Walter Martiny. The Italian shoe brand started out in Turin over 100 years ago and in fact gets its name from a famous hill that overlooks the city of Turin. For many years Superga was best known for producing tennis shoes. In 1951 the company merged with Pirelli, who made it possible for the brand to expand its production. Superga shoes are worn now by several famous names as a new ambassador is selected for the brand every year including Alexa Chuna, Rita Ora, and Binx Walton. Superga shoes now have stores all over the world and sales are driven by one model in particular.
