DARE TO BECOME

Kevin Durant has been on a mission his whole life. His journey took him from Maryland to Austin, from Seattle to Oklahoma and finally to Oakland. For the second straight year now, the Golden State Warriors are NBA champions. And for the second straight year, KD is the NBA Finals MVP.

Averaging 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.3 blocks in the Finals series, the Durantula put yet another exclamation mark on his exacting and epic game. Two rings and two MVP awards in a row are the best proof that Kevin Durant made the right decision for his career, leaving OKC daring to become.

RISE, GRIND, SHINE. AGAIN.

In celebration of Kevin Durant‘s second championship with the Golden State Warriors, Nike Basketball‘s latest clip recalls the origin and consistency of KD‘s relentless pursuit of excellence. His clutch performances as well as his propensity for accurate and efficient scoring do not come from nothing. Round-the-clock, it has always been rise and grind for Kevin Durant.

Success proved him right though. In the last two consecutive NBA Finals appearances, it was finally time to shine for him. Again and again, the back-to-back champ proved all the critics wrong.

KD XI

Designed and built for one of the game’s most versatile players, Nike introduces the KD XI right after the player‘s tremendous NBA season 2017-18. Its most significant upgrade is arguably the very intriguing cushioning setup. Never in Nike‘s recent basketball history has a signature basketball shoe been equipped with two different foam systems.

The KD XI masters this hybrid sensation featuring a full-length Zoom Air unit encapsulated by the brand‘s new React foam – a pairing that proves to be mighty when it comes to offering the best support possible. Combining Nike React and Nike Zoom was one of the smartest move from the designer Leo Chang, helping to an instant energy return and a bouncy feeling.

While the Nike React cushions between court and body, the Nike Zoom sits just under the foot to provide response. According to Chang, the key component in the resulting system was identifying the correct thickness for the foam element, which in KD‘s case is taller than in typical basketball shoes.

The shoe’s sleek but tough aesthetic is completed by a translucent outsole that features the same unique detailing found on the shoe’s insole. Rounding off the brandnew performance basketball silhouette, a one-piece Flyknit upper was chosen to be the key material of the KD XI.

Nike‘s most adaptable textile technology gets a little more plush and thus, a lot softer this time. The external heel scoops up high at the heel, featuring the KD logo and ending with a pull-tab extension.

This collar was borrowed from the Air Sock Racer, a laid-back chill shoe Durant loves to wear in summer. The eleventh signature shoe of the Warriors Forward is the ultimate merger of a comfy lifestyle sneaker and a true performance machine. It puts a stop to the eternal compromise - the Nike KD XI offers comfort plus responsiveness!

HISTORIC - THE GREATEST KEVIN DURANT MOMENTS

Rookie of the Year – 2008

Rookie of the Year – 2008

There were a couple of good players in that 2007 draft class, but none of them were on KD's level as he was picked at No. 2 in the 2007 draft. Averaging 20.3 pts, 4.4 reb, 2.4 ass, the chances of winning the ROY were pretty much in favor of Kevin Durant – but to be honest, the competition KD went up against in Year One was rather limited.

All-Star Game MVP – 2012

All-Star Game MVP – 2012

By the time the 2012 All-Star Weekend in Orlando, Florida, rolled around, Kevin Durant had already established himself as the league's best scorer winning the two previous scoring crowns (with averages of 30.1 pts & 27.7 pts respectively). To no one's surprise KD came out guns blazing in the annual showcase of the league's best (read: most popular) players, pitting East against West in the good ol' days of conference rivalry.

Olympic Gold – 2012

Olympic Gold – 2012

While Kevin Durant was USA Basketball's top scorer for the Olympic Basketball Tournament in London, you could argue to rank this achievement lower than the Olympic Gold that would follow 4 years later. Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul and LeBron James gave the 2012 team a strong identity and orchestrated the offense (and defense) to perfection. The 2012 Olympic Team is the only team that comes close to the original Dream Team in terms of dominance – they used Kevin Durant as the main offensive tool to beat their opponents but don‘t think for a second they could not have done it themselves.

Olympic Gold – 2016

Olympic Gold – 2016

Without Kobe, without CP3 and without Lebron, Team USA was in dire need of a leader and they found him in Kevin Durant. He ended up leading the team in scoring again, but he did so much more. Shooting an incredible 57.8% from the field, 58.1% from three and 81.3% from the line, KD established himself as a bonafide international superstar putting the US team on his back to win the Gold.

50-40-90 -2013

The 50-40-90 club is the nickname for a small group of players who managed to shoot 50+% from the field, 40+% from three and 90+% from the line in one season. This feat is so impressive that in the history of the NBA only 7 players achieved it. Larry Bird, Mark Price, Reggie Miller, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. That's it.

66 at Rucker – 2011

66 at Rucker – 2011

Today, seeing a professional NBA player making an appearance at the Rucker is rare. In August 2011, Kevin Durant put on a show at New York's famed Rucker Park, dropping 66 points in one game. He went supernova on them fools and the crowd went wild.
