In 1966, Doug Tompkins declared war on coldness. He laid the foundation for THE NORTH FACE by opening a small store in the North Beach quarter of San Francisco, selling equipment for ski tours and backpacking. Thus, on the one hand, the name The North Face refers to the company's home, on the other hand the „North Face“ also marks the coldest and iciest side of a mountain. Ever since, the supplier of outdoor equipment made some big milestones. The North Face started Himalaya expeditions as a way to be inspired and equipped famous mountaineers like Kit DesLauriers. In 2006 two athletes - sponsored by The North Face - ran 50 marathons in 50 U.S. states in 50 days. And even antarctic expeditions are part of the The North Face's activities.
The North Face – Never stop exploring
The brands clothes burst with innovation and technology. The North Face builts in the revolutionary material GORE-TEX for example and cooperates with other textile manufacturers to ensure that you stay warm and cosy. The HyVent technology and the Goose Down Fill provide showerproof and breathable material and a down stuffing that stays dry 17 times longer than untreated down. Additionally, The North Face ensures that the down only comes from animals that have not been subjected to unnecessary harm. The jackets, gloves and bags are not only about functionality. They are equally as stylish as they are warm and comfortable. This is why The Nort Face has made its way from the mountains to the streets of any major city in the world.
