One word: Iconic. The VANS AUTHENTIC has had his first release in 1966, being the first shoe to be adorned by the Jazz-Stripe. Skating and the Authentic go together like ants and picnics – you couldn't imagine one without the other. While the upper has thousands of different variations, the 5-hole lacing always stays the same. 'Off the wall' is the motto, 'Authentic' is the way. It doesn't look like anybody will dethrone the #1 in the skateboarding world any time soon.

After successful collaborations with Disney – from Mickey Mouse to Star Wars motives printed on the upper – Vans put their heads together with Nintendo, the absolute all-time gaming champion. More or less. Starting off the June in brilliant fashion, they present the VANS X NINTENDO collection! Showcasing 8-bit artwork on the VANS AUTHENTIC DUCK HUNT CAMO, a nostalgic feel may come up just by looking at this sneaker. If you played Duck Hunt on the NES way back in 1985, you know the deal. The game itself was simple: players use the NES Zapper to shoot ducks that appear on their screen. With numerous ducks and the dog – which by the way laughed at every of your misses – printed on the upper, the camo background perfectly matches those. Custom GAME OVER signature on the rubber waffle outsoles put the icing on the cake.

Brand information: vans

In 1966 Jim van Doren, Gordy Lee and Serge D''Elia founded the Van Doren Rubber Company. In a shop next to the factory they sold the Hi-Top (also Sk8-Hi). It was the first sneaker which was made specifically for skateboarding. Ten years later they rolled out the Hi-Top in two colors (red-blue) for the first time. The shoe was designed by skateboard-legends Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva. Since then the rise of Vans was unstoppable. To this day Vans are not only an integral part of the skateboarding-scene. A lot of bands like Bad Religion or The Hives are also crazy about Vans.
