Golden State

With Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors have an unbelievable 4 All-Stars on their roster and their opponents felt the effects of that in every round. The team stepped into the breach for the stars every time they had one of their Off-Days, and compensated their deteriorating performance. Even when this year’s playoff-run went a little more sluggish than last year’s, one can truly claim the following: The Warriors are really hard to beat when they stay healthy!

New Orleans and San Antonio got wiped out by the Golden State Warriors in the first two rounds of the Playoffs. They both were just be able to win one game each against the reigning NBA-Champion. The Warriors only had difficulties playing against Houston in the Western Conference Finals and barely came through in a series-clinching Game 7. How will they perform against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals? Many experts are of the opinion, that the Warriors are the primary contenders and the Cavs only have an outside chance of winning. Despite all this, it might be dangerous to underestimate the Cavs. The team and especially LeBron James, indisputably the best player on the planet, often proved that he plays at his best when the odds are against him. So the Warriors are well advised to remember that and not to take the Cavs lightly.

A powerful Defense will be the key in the fourth consecutive Finals-Clash of the two Conference-Champions. The Californians have a definite edge on the Cavs regarding the Offense, maybe they are the best team of all-time in that sense. But who will come out with a better strategy to eliminate the opponents stars? And even more important, who wants it more? The Cavs definitely have to make up for the heart-breaking 1-4 loss from last year’s Finals.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Neither the Boston Celtics nor the Indiana Pacers or the Toronto Raptors were able to stop King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in this year’s Playoffs. This means: Cavs vs. Warriors again! While the finalist from the West used the first rounds as a warmup, the Cavaliers saw themselves in a Game 7 in the First Round of the Playoffs against a fierce Indiana team. After a sweep of the Toronto Raptors in the second round, Cleveland faced off the Boston Celtics in a series that went down to the wire. The surprise-team of the Playoffs had to compete without the injured superstar Kyrie Irving and forced the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals to a Game 7 again!

The most outstanding man on the floor was ,of course, King James himself. More than ever he was putting the team on his back this season and compensated the often bad games of his teammates with his incredible performances. Playoff LeBron, as ever, is destroying team after team and easily writing NBA history. With 44 points in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics, he was not only the towering man on the court, but he also cracked Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time record for most field goals made in the Playoffs and is now #1 on the leaderboard.

Now it's time for the ultimate showdown in the Finals - it's not just James' eighth consecutive Finals, but the two teams also face each other for the fourth time in a row in the Finals. This is indeed a striking fact, because none of the basketball dynasties of the past decades have accomplished that ... CLEVELAND, WHATEVER IT TAKES!
