For the first time ever an NFL (National Football League) game will be played on German grounds! The game will take place in the Allianz Arena in Munich (home of the world-renowned FC Bayern soccer team) and feature a primetime matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While the NFL has played several games internationally, this marks the first time that Germany will be home to a regular season game. And it won’t be the last. The NFL announced that 4 regular season games will be played here over the course of the next 4 seasons! With 2 games being played at the Allianz Arena in Munich and 2 additional games in Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Stadium. 

With the surge in popularity of American football in Germany, it was a clear favorite for the NFL’s expansion efforts. In 2022 alone 2.23 million German viewers tuned in late at night to watch the Bengals and Rams battle it out for the Lombardi trophy.
